Cell-Based Protein for a Sustainable Future

Course

Fundamental changes in agriculture practice and food production is inevitable. Providing food for an increasing population will be a great challenge with the goal of reducing the negative environmental impact of conventional agriculture practices. As such, the application of industrial biotechnology methodology is a promising way to increase food production, especially protein sources potentially. The students who enrolled in this module should be able to critically evaluate the scientific merit of food production using industrial biotechnology methods and describe how potential societal, ethical and legal factors can affect the successful introduction of such food sources to consumers.
