We are working on computational modelling and optimisation of bioreactor/bioprocess performance in terms of scalability and yield. The overall objective is to understand how to operate and improve existing bioreactor designs and architectures (stirred tank, airift etc) in order to minimise the cost per kilo of the cultivated meat produced. The focus areas are the fluid and chemical dynamics, such as oxygen mass transfer and mixing times, the hydrodynamic stress on the cells and the cell response to stress and nutrient concentrations. We are looking for collaborators who want to optimise bioreactor performance and who either have or are able to characterise cell line response to different bioreactor operating parameters.
