I worked as a visiting researcher in the Bean Genetic Improvement Program at the Campinas Agronomic Institute as a scholarship holder (post-doctoral CAPES/PNPD) working directly on the development of new bean cultivars, developing projects mainly related to resistance to abiotic stresses, tolerance to high temperature and water deficit and the efficiency of phosphorus use. I also carried out gene expression studies (RNA-seq) and associative mapping (SNPs) in response to phosphorus use efficiency. I helped coordinate pathogenicity tests for the main bean diseases, such as anthracnose and fusarium wilt. In parallel, I characterized ancient strains of chickpeas, where we were able to verify potential for improvement and report the occurrence of a new disease in the crop.
