So far, my work has focused on fish cell line development. We have developed two continuous muscle cell lines from Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus). My next phase of research is aiming to use omics and data science to educate cell culture optimization. Specifically, I am trying to identify media additives by analyzing transcriptomic and proteomic differences between cells grown serum-containing and serum-free media. We hope this leads to improvements in serum-free media, bringing the cost of the bioprocess down.
