The alternative
protein ecosystem

Stefan Guldin

Researcher

I am a soft matter scientist based in Singapore, serving as Co-Director and Resident Principal Investigator of the Proteins4Singapore project. My research centres on alternative proteins, with a focus on colloid science, structure formation and characterization, flavour encapsulation and release, and other areas related to soft materials science. I also hold the Chair of Complex Soft Matter at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). My academic journey began with a degree in Physics, specialising in soft condensed matter, at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and TUM. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 2012. After postdoctoral research at EPFL in Switzerland, I joined University College London (UCL) as a Principal Investigator in 2015, became Associate Professor in 2018, and held the Chair of Adaptive and Responsive Nanomaterials in 2022. Since 2024, I have been based at TUMCREATE/TUM.
