We are working on optimizing and stabilizing serum-free culturing medium, which would mimic molecular surroundings of the muscle stem cells after prolonged physical activity/injury, to enhance myoblasts’ proliferation rates and to hamper contact inhibition. Please see our perliminary data for several highly functional strategies in a recent pre-print: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.11.13.516330v1.full We also preform de-novo protein engineering of the growth factors contained in the end formulation, to allow for a longer shelf-life and cost-effective manufacturing of the optimized medium. It should help raise efficiency of cell culture media for cultivated meat and to reduce its costs.
